I have not played my instrument in a long time. How good do I have to be?
All you have to do is march/walk and not drop your instrument. Most alumni have not played in years. The only requirement is to have fun.
I don't have an instrument, can I borrow one?
There are a limited number of instruments available. Please indicate on your registration form what type of instrument you need. You may also post a request on our Facebook page. All instruments are on a first reserve, first serve basis.
Do I have to perform the Long Train dance?
Absolutely not. If you do not want to dance, just stand in rank with the current band.
I can't get to the stadium until after the game starts, can I still perform at half-time?
If you can get to the stadium before half-time starts you can perform
Do I need to attend any rehersals?
To Participate in the drill/flag dance at Homecoming Aux/Guard/Flag members must attend at least one practice prior to Homecoming week AND the Thursday practice Homecoming week. There are many practices scheduled during the months prior to Homecoming, please make as many as you can. If you are from out of town, please contact us to make arrangements for halftime.
Band members are not required to attend the music / Long Train rehersals. However, if you choose not to attend please make arrangements for music and/or instruments prior to Homecoming.
Can my children/family/friends participate in the half-time show?
While all family members are cordially invited to enjoy the show and game, half-time participation (including dinner, refreshments after rehearsal and free admission to the game) is limited to performing alumni (musicians, drill, guard, flags, etc.). Tickets for admission to the game can be purchased through the Fairmont Athletic Office or at the field the day of the game. Other activities, including the post game gathering are for everyone.
What should I wear?
Dress/uniform for homecoming is plain white shirt or official alumni shirt, dark blue pants, blue jeans or blue shorts and shoes. Drill dress/uniform is black jazz pants, white long sleeve shirt or official alumni shirt and white tennis shoes.
